Water wheels
Klezla, Vojtěch ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Haluza, Miloslav (advisor)
Water wheels are the topic of this bachelor thesis, which is divided into three parts. The first one describes a history of water wheels. The second part is focused on different types of water wheels and basic part of water construction. In the last part is concept and calculation of overshot bucket water wheel and adjustment of the parameters of Poncelet water wheel.
Study of small hydropower station in the locality of Osík
Staněk, Aleš ; Golík,, Pavel (referee) ; Dráb, Aleš (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with a study of a small hydropower plant in Osík on the Desná river. Part of the work is the calculation of the produced energy and the estimation of the return on investment.
Design of a micro waterpower turbines for low head and low dicharge
Macek, Libor ; Fic, Miloslav (referee) ; Štigler, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis discusses the issue of finding type of water turbine for very low heads and low discharges, which could be operated as mobile micro hydropower plant in island mode. Thesis deals with summary of appropriate choices of water turbine for needs of micro hydropower plant. Essential part of diploma thesis deals with design of optimized waterwheel. Waterwheel was chosen because commercial high-speed turbines have low efficiency for low heads. Waterwheel was manufactured and measured in laboratories of Fluid engineering. Measurement output was discharge and efficiency characteristic of turbine. The price calculation was made after manufacture.
Portable water pico turbine design, production and basic parameters verifying
Tománek, Ladislav ; Haluza, Miloslav (referee) ; Štigler, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to design, manufacture and measure the characteristics of a mobile water pico turbine. More precisely, it is an experimental construction of a mill wheel. The first part of this document is describing the design and manufacture of the turbine. This part focuses mainly on the construction of water wheels with different sizes of buckets and on the nozzle supplying water to the turbine. There is also a CFD simulation of pressure loss of nozzle. The second part of the thesis is focused on the processing of data that were measured in the laboratory, including the determination of uncertainties. The measurements were performed for different turbine settings such as flow, speed, different wheel shapes and different positions of the nozzle distributing water to the wheel. For individual turbine settings are created characteristics, from which maximum powers and maximum efficiencies parameters are determined.

Restoration of water management at the water mill
Chrástová, Veronika ; Duchan, David (referee) ; Špano, Miroslav (advisor)
The water mill in Příkrakov has been out of operation for several decades. The current owners decided that the mill wheel could be put into operation again. Therefore, the subject of this work is precisely the suggestion of how to get the water wheel of the mill running again. The design begins in the Ležák creek, where a weir with a floodgate will be placed. A floodgate will separate part of the flow from the creek to the millrace. From the millrace, the water goes to the mill reservoir, from which the water already flows through a reinforced concrete channel directly to the mill wheel. The entire design is supplemented by calculations which result is the total power and energy that the mill wheel is able to produce.

Doplnění lesnického skanzenu v Čiernom Balogu o objekt vodní píly
Kováč, Jozef
The introductory part of this master thesis summarizes historical sources about water powered sawmills and their construction, according to which documentation have been prepared for the future building of the sawmill and its components. This thesis proposes various types of saw drive in terms of the construction and based on comparison of the benefits and drawbacks recommends the optimal type of drive. the Part of the work is, besides important calculations, the drawing documentation, in which objects and their components are plot. This elaborated draft is going to represent the basis for building a water powered sawmill construction as a technical monument that is going to provide information to open-air museum visitors about the method how wood was processed in the past.
